Event Systematic perspective
For industrial employers, the useful lesson is how to frame an evaluation. A trial should establish whether a task can be performed reliably in its intended setting, with acceptable support and quality. It does not by itself establish that the same equipment is suitable for a different plant, shift pattern or product.
Before launching a similar evaluation, prepare a written acceptance sheet. Describe the part, presentation, destination and quality criteria. Record conditions that require a stop or human intervention. Include the people who currently perform the work: their knowledge of damaged parts and unusual situations can be more useful than a polished demonstration.
Put it into practice
- Define quality and intervention measures before the first trial shift.
- Distinguish evidence collected in your own environment from a vendor’s demonstration elsewhere.
- Use the results to decide the next learning step, including the option to redesign or discontinue the trial.
