Event Systematic perspective

A workflow owner connects business intent with day-to-day execution. The person should understand the process, the information it uses and the consequences of an incorrect result. Technical support remains important, but operational judgement determines what the system is allowed to do and how success is assessed.

For recruitment, ask candidates to map a familiar process and identify its exceptions. Give them a case in which two policies conflict or an input is incomplete. Their explanation of the handoff, evidence and escalation is more informative than a claim to have built many agents. The role should also include responsibility for updating training when the workflow changes.

Put it into practice

  • Specify process analysis, clear documentation and stakeholder communication as essential capabilities.
  • Include a practical assessment that tests uncertainty and recovery, not only the happy path.
  • Allocate time for monitoring and improvement; ownership should not be an unpaid addition to an already full role.
