Event Systematic perspective
Robot learning and employee learning are different activities, but a deployment requires both. A model may be trained or adapted for a task while people learn how to prepare inputs, observe outcomes and recognise exceptions. An organisation that funds only the technical work risks leaving the operating team unsure of its responsibilities.
For an early industrial pilot, document the workflow in ordinary language before translating it into engineering requirements. Include the experienced operator’s account of what makes the task difficult. Then define the competencies needed for supervision and support. This approach gives frontline knowledge a formal place in technology development.
Put it into practice
- Treat task documentation and operator feedback as deliverables in the project schedule.
- Create a supervised practice environment before exposing employees to a live production change.
- Keep a shared record of system limitations and human learning needs as the pilot evolves.
