Event Systematic perspective

A job title can remain familiar while its practical requirements change. Reusing an old description may attract candidates for work the team no longer does or exclude people with the capabilities it now needs. Recruiters and hiring managers should review the task mix before each search.

For an analyst role, distinguish collecting data, checking its quality, interpreting results and communicating a recommendation. AI may affect each activity differently. Specify the evidence a candidate should provide and which abilities will be developed after joining. A shorter, more precise brief is often easier to assess than a long list of technologies.

Put it into practice

  • Review a recent piece of successful work and identify the capabilities that actually mattered.
  • Remove obsolete requirements and distinguish essential competence from preferred exposure.
  • Give interviewers a shared scoring rubric tied to the revised tasks.
