Event Systematic perspective
A humanoid operating around people introduces a communication problem as well as a mechanical one. Staff need to understand what it is doing, when to give space and how to obtain help. Guests may interpret a human-shaped machine differently from a conventional piece of equipment.
Our recommendation is to test the interaction as part of a bounded trial. Observe whether instructions are understood, whether people can identify the responsible human and whether the system creates extra work for staff. Include different languages and accessibility needs in the evaluation without assuming that a friendly appearance makes the interaction clear.
Put it into practice
- Develop plain-language explanations for staff and visitors that match the actual trial.
- Observe confusion and interruption as measurable outcomes, not minor inconveniences.
- Retain a visible human contact and review feedback before extending the operating area.
